Committee work

We currently offer an online discussion series for librarians to discuss issues, ideas, and best practices related to academic outreach.

A variety of roles and responsibilities are required to run the discussion series:

  • Scheduling dates and planning discussion topics
  • Creating and managing discussions within the online platform (currently Zoom)
  • Publicizing the discussions
  • Managing registration and communicating with registrants
  • Facilitating discussions
  • Collecting and distributing ideas, best practices, and resources from discussions (currently organized by topic and posted publicly to ALA Connect)

A current list of upcoming and past programs can be found on the ULS website. For an list of discussions prior to 2019, go to the ULS Academic Outreach Committee YouTube channel.

We anticipate that other projects and work will grow out of these virtual conversations or in-person conference meetings. Hopefully as we develop a successful workflow and everyone becomes comfortable with the process, that will allow more time for other committee work.

The committees uses this online form to submit requests for promotion of committee and discussion group activities.
