Committee work

Online discussions

We currently offer an online discussion series for librarians to discuss issues, ideas, and best practices related to academic outreach. Go to the ULS Academic Outreach Committee YouTube channel to view videos in the discussion series.

A variety of roles and responsibilities are required to run the discussion series:

  • Scheduling dates and planning discussion topics
  • Creating and managing discussions within the online platform (currently Google Hangouts on Air)
  • Publicizing the discussions
  • Managing registration and communicating with registrants
  • Facilitating discussions
  • Collecting and distributing ideas, best practices, and resources from discussions (currently organized by topic and posted publicly to ALA Connect)

Other committee work

We anticipate that other projects and work will grow out of these virtual conversations or in-person conference meetings. Hopefully as we develop a successful workflow and everyone becomes comfortable with the process, that will allow more time for other committee work.
