Science and Technology Section (STS): About Our Officers

This is a guide for current and potential offers in the Science and Technology (STS) Section of ACRL

Duties

1. Serve as an officer of the section, and assist in advancing the goals and objectives of the section and ACRL.

2. Support the publicity efforts of STS Council and all STS committees/groups.

  • Manage platforms that STS uses to promote and share programming (e.g., STS Google Calendar and STS YouTube Channel)

  • Provide one to two Publicity Training event/s per year. Invite all STS leadership and members. At each event, demonstrate: STS Google Calendar, STS YouTube Channel, ALA Connect (particularly the STS Discussion List) and any other relevant platforms.

  • Maintain and periodically update/share STS documents in the Link Library.

  • Monitor the STS Discussion List/ALA Connect, STS Signal, and any other relevant sites, to capture and record STS Event programming dates and descriptions. This document is in the Link Library.

  • Provide, as needed, additional publicity advice and assistance to STS members and STS committees/groups.

3. Additional projects, at your discretion.

Calendar

Month Responsibilities
Immediately following Annual Conference Begin term of office at the close of the final day of the Annual Conference. 
Between July - December 

Provide a Publicity Training event for STS leadership (officers, committee chairs) and members

Monthly and/or as needed

Attend Council and Executive Team Meetings

Periodically share out links to STS media platforms on ALA Connect, particularly the YouTube channel and Google calendar

Maintain and update STS media platforms and documents in the Link Library

Project suggestions: (1) Review documents in the Link Library for current relevancy and decide whether to continue updating; (2) Review STS Guidelines & Expectations for Virtual Programming and submit to Council/Exec for approval
