Getting Access to Government Information

Science.gov
Science.gov is a portal to government databases and research drawing from a wide spectrum of science agencies across disciplines. Includes technical reports, conference papers,data sets, and some open access journal articles.
National Technical Reports Library
While no longer being updated with new resources, this serves as a useful database for older federally-funded scientific, technical, engineering, and business information across disciplines.
Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI)
Contains a wide array of science and technical information from all research development projects funded by the U.S. Department of Energy.
National Institute of Standards and Technology
Find information on documentary standards and regulatory practices for measurements, standards, and legal metrology. Topics covered include artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, bioscience, infrastructure, public safety and more
National Science Foundation
An independent federal agency that promotes the progress of science, and secure national defense. NSF investments account for about 25% of federal support to America's colleges and universities for basic research.
U.S. Department of Transportation - New & Emerging Technologies
Includes agencies regulating railways, highways, aviation, waterways, transit, and pipelines.
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)
USACE employs civilians and soldiers who build and maintain America's infrastructure and military facilities.
U.S. Department of Agriculture
Provides leadership on food, agriculture, natural resources, rural development, nutrition, and related issues based on public policy, the best available science, and effective management.
U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)
NRC is an independent agency created by Congress to regulate commercial nuclear power plants and other uses of nuclear materials. The NRC Library contains information and the documents that are most pertinent to NRC regulatory activities.

Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP)
The Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) was established by Congress to ensure that the American public has access to its Government's information. The Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) is administered by the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO).
Free Government Information (FGI)
Begun in 2004 by a group of Government Information Librarians, FGI promotes free government information through collaboration, education, advocacy and research. The FGI Library is a list of presentations, white papers, published articles, and major commentaries and analyses by volunteers.
Government Information Watch (NGO)
Monitors access to information about government policy, process, and practice and to ensure and preserve open, accountable government through advocacy

Serves as a central repository for Federal Enterprise Data resources including tools, case studies, playbooks, and guidance on how to manage and use Federal data
PEGI Project (NGO)
Preservation of Electronic Government Information (PEGI) is an initiative to address national concerns regarding the preservation of electronic government information by cultural memory organizations for long term use by the public.
