This toolkit was developed to provide resources and tools for librarians who are engaged in online learning efforts at their institution, whether in full course management systems or as stand-alone tools to incorporate into web pages or instruction sessio

Games in the Curriculum

  • Bibliobouts A new game for teaching information literacy skills that can be integrated into or supplement existing information literacy instruction programs.
  • InfoLit 101 Teaches students how to narrow a research topic, use databases, select keywords, distinguish between book and journal citations, and evaluate sources.
  • I'll Get It Assist people who enter the library in search of information. Students get annoyed and leave if you don't help them quickly.
  • Primary and Secondary Sources Answer all questions correctly to become a millionaire.
  • Infometer For each question, choose one of the best sources to find the information. In each case, more than one source is considered a good answer. Get all 7 questions right to win the game.
  • Within Range Shelve books in correct order to learn how information is organized and categorized using the Library of Congress Classification system.
  • Citation Game Drag and drop the pieces to correctly format either APA or MLA citations. This new version has additional citation types and reflects the 2009 MLA changes.
  • Citation Tic Tac Toe Students must correctly identify a citation's source or style to win each square.
  • Ready Reference Do you know your reference resources well enough to earn one million dollars?

  • Developing Student Research Skills with Games Think Fast. A rapid-fire, multiple choice question/answer game.
  • Library Squares. A tic-tac-toe style game from TILT.
  • Guess the Google. Presents a montage of Google Images associated with a particular word, you must guess that word.
