University Libraries Section (ULS): About Our Discussion Groups

How to use this guide

ULS discussion groups are an informal and flexible way for members with like-minded interests to discuss current issues facing the profession. They host in-person discussions at ALA Midwinter and ALA Annual, often inviting experts to present content and facilitate conversations.

This guide provides information you need to successfully run or participate in a ULS discussion group. We have tips for discussion group conveners and members, along with specific guidelines for each discussion group.

Past conveners and the ULS Executive Committee put together these resources. We hope you find them useful! If you notice anything inaccurate or if there is something missing you'd like to see here, contact 2019–2020 ULS Chair Amanda Peters.
