Irish Studies

Scholarly resources in Irish Studies. The resources organized here are all freely available and have undergone a selection and evaluation process.

Literature: This page of the ESS Irish Studies LibGuide addresses literature by authors writing on the island of Ireland, whether located in what is now the Republic of Ireland (Éire) or Northern Ireland. It includes both English-language and Irish-language literature.

Irish authors, particularly those (for example, Oliver Goldsmith, Oscar Wilde, and George Bernard Shaw) who spent significant parts of their careers in England, are also often included in resources on British literature; a number of such resources are listed in the ESS British and UK Studies guide's Literature & Linguistics page.

Linguistics: The Linguistics section below has a primary focus on the Irish, or Irish Gaelic, language.
